A new Pew Research Center study shows that a majority of Latino voters hold an unfavorable view of former U.S. President Donald Trump, highlighting a persistent divide between the GOP frontrunner and one of the nation’s fastest-growing voter groups.
According to the survey, most Latino adults say they disapprove of Trump’s policies, rhetoric, and handling of key issues, particularly immigration, race relations, and the economy. While Trump has made recent efforts to improve his standing among Hispanic voters — including outreach events and Spanish-language messaging — Pew’s data suggests that skepticism remains strong.
Still, the study notes that Latino voters are not a monolithic bloc. Support varies by age, origin, education, and state. Cuban Americans and some Latino evangelical communities show comparatively higher support for Trump, while Mexican, Puerto Rican, and Central American voters remain overwhelmingly opposed.
As the 2024 political landscape intensifies, both parties are expected to increase their outreach efforts. But for now, Pew’s findings make one thing clear: Trump faces a steep uphill climb with Latino voters heading into the election cycle.
