GTA 6 Gameplay Leak Suggests Major Overhaul to Wanted System

Fans of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series observed an interesting change. This change in the Wanted system comes from a recent gameplay leak tied to GTA 6. The latest trailer for the game teased this update. Some believe Rockstar Games may be overhauling a core feature of the series.

When Rockstar released the first trailer for GTA 6, it instantly captured the attention of the gaming community. Many speculated on the hidden details within the footage, but one detail, in particular, was missed by most. A sharp-eyed Reddit user identified a possible change to the Wanted system that could have a significant impact on gameplay.

A recent gameplay leak hints at a possible overhaul of GTA 6s Wanted system mechanics.

One eagle-eyed Reddit user may have spotted another detail that some of us missed. It might very well be the Wanted system overhaul. This quite literally change the game for the series.

The Wanted system in the Grand Theft Auto series is a simple but effective concept. You break the law and you get a single wanted star for a minor crime.

The more severe the crime, the more Wanted stars you earn in Grand Theft Auto. Frequent lawbreaking can also earn you up to five stars. The higher the stars, the more relentless the police will pursue you. Eventually, they will call in the military to bring you down.

Yet, judging by the first GTA VI trailer, things are going to change and perhaps for the better.

“I just realised that this part of the trailer is showing off the new Wanted system,” said clevererest_username. “The cops must not have a description of the suspect. They just drive by Jason and Lucia. Jason and Lucia are fleeing the scene of the crime the cops are headed to.”

Fellow members on the thread were keen to add more details. These details resulted from those infamous gameplay leaks taken from an early build of GTA VI.

“In one of the leaks when Jason and Lucia are robbing the diner, they are about to leave. You can see a little message pop up. The message states that the cops have a full description of the vehicle. They used it to get away,” replied Organization No 203. “So, there could very well be a new element to the Wanted system.”

“It’s mentioned in the GTA VI document compiled using all the leaks,” says Upbeat-Original-7137. “Using masks will also help conceal your identity.”#

Of course, it remains to be seen whether this will be the new Wanted system in GTA VI. If it is, I suspect it would be a welcomed change by fans. Hopefully, we’ll learn more in the coming months, perhaps when Rockstar Games drops the second trailer.

At the time of writing, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release late this year. It will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The PC version hasn’t been revealed, yet.
